The sprinkling type Dust Control System works on the principle of artificial rain. Artificial rain created by sprinklers wet the top surface of the stockpile or Haul road to and dust on the surface agglomerate to and sticks to the boulders beneath or get washed away below the boulders to prevent dust generation by wind or vehicle movement. As the rain wets the surface upto few millimeter depth, water stored in the mass of road/stockpile surface takes ranging from few hours to a day to evaporate and keeps the air free from dust. Based on the season, the sprinkling system can be operated automatically or manually at selectable interval to keep the surface moist with minimum consumption of water.
